BloodHopper
BLOODHOPPER
The blood is rising from below and it does not stop. You go up, or you drown. That's the whole deal.
Every move you make is a jump, controlled by mouse direction, and every jump you charge. Hold the button and time crawls almost to a stop, which gives you a moment to pick your arc and your landing. Let go and you launch. The catch is that charging burns focus, and focus is also the only thing keeping you alive. Spend too much lining up the perfect hop and you've got nothing left when you actually need it. Run the meter dry mid-charge and time just snaps back to normal speed, but the jump still goes. So you're always trading: a cleaner shot now, or a cushion for later.
Your weapons fire on their own while you climb, so the real skill is in where you put your body. Land on an enemy from above and it dies and you get focus back, which is reason enough to aim your falls instead of just surviving them. Kills drop embers, and when you're moving up fast enough they get pulled toward you for focus and XP. It does not happen on every jump, and chasing it on purpose will usually get you killed, but when a climb lines up and the pickups come to you, it feels great.
Survive about three and a half minutes of all this and the Reaper shows up. Beat it and the run is yours.
What's in it
- Charge-jump movement with slow-motion aiming, all riding on one focus meter
- A procedural tower across five biomes: Crypt, Caverns, Void, Inferno, Empyrean
- Hazards that change how you climb: crumbling ledges, ice, fire, updraft vents, the tide
- Six auto-firing weapons, each with an upgraded form if you build into it
- Six characters to unlock, each playing a little differently
- Permanent upgrades between runs and a fresh stack of items every run
- Five Heat tiers when you want it harder, plus a seeded Daily Climb with leaderboards
- A boss per biome and the Reaper at the top
- Runs are short, roughly three and a half minutes. Pixel art, gothic, built for one more go.
Runs in the browser. Keyboard and mouse, or touch on mobile.
